Nobody has more experience with automated refuse collection than Heil, and no product has a
longer track record than Heil’s Rapid Rail® side loader. More than 20 years after its introduction the
Rapid Rail® continues to be the standard to which all others are compared. And it’s no wonder.
Rapid Rail’s 8-foot reach, fast cycle times and continuous packing make it a highly productive and
efficient choice for automated collection.
Rapid Rail® was invented by the “father of automation,” Marc Stragier, in the desert of Arizona back
in the late 1960s. Marc envisioned a method of refuse collection that would save money, but
more importantly spare his municipal workers the physical punishment of manual collection in
the tortuous desert heat. Today, as the New Products Manager for Heil, Marc continues to be
the visionary for our industry, but he also works with Heil engineers as they continuously improve
the product that started it all.
Recent modifications to the Rapid Rail® have made it easier to maintain, easier to operate,
more efficient and more able to withstand the daily rigors of automated collection.
