Heil produces the first electrically welded compartment tanks and steel truck body.

Heil begins manufacturing hand hoist and dump body units.

Heil produces the worlds first twin-arm hydraulic hoist for truck bodies.

Heil produces prototype “van type” fully enclosed refuse vehicle.

Heil begins using high tensile steel in welded truck bodies.

Heil delivers is first conveyor-type refuse bodies to the city of New York

Heil manufactures the first Colector garbage truck bodies.

Heil introduces the Colecto-Pak, the first refuse body capable of packing it’s own load.

Heil introduces the Mark II Colectomatic rear loader.

Heil begins production at it’s new manufacturing facilities in Fort Payne, AL and Scotland.

The Mark III Colectomatic rear loader becomes the first unit to go into production in the Ft Payne, AL manufacturing facility.

Heil introduces the Mark IV Colectomatic rear loader, forerunner to the Formula® 4000 rear loader.

The Heil Company opens an office in Chattanooga, TN, which eventually becomes it’s corporate headquarters.

Heil introduces the Formula series of refuse bodies and production of the Formula® 500 begins.

Heil acquires Litter-Lift Systems, the forerunner to the Formula® 7000 Split-Body automated collection system.

The 10,000th Formula® 5000 rolls off the line.

Heil introduces STARR® System automated side loader and a redesign of the Half/Pak® front loader with a curved body shell, which becomes the DurPak® Half/Pak® front loader.
